Join acclaimed jazz pianist Noah Haidu and legendary trumpeter Eddie Henderson for an unforgettable evening celebrating the music of the late Kenny Kirkland—a visionary composer and pianist whose influence continues to shape modern jazz. This special performance is part of an album release tour timed with what would have been Kirkland’s 70th birthday and supported by the launch of an ambitious multimedia project: The Doctone Project.
Haidu has earned acclaim for his dynamic playing, hailed by The Wall Street Journal for his “buoyant and free” style. With recent albums landing on DownBeat’s Best of the Year lists and national recognition from NPR and All Songs Considered, Noah brings a fresh, narrative-driven approach to the piano that blends intellect with groove. His performances captivate with intricate interplay, heartfelt tributes, and a deep reverence for the jazz lineage.
Joining him is legendary trumpeter Eddie Henderson, whose remarkable career has spanned more than five decades. A member of Herbie Hancock’s groundbreaking Mwandishi band in the 1970s, Henderson has since become one of the most distinctive trumpet voices in modern jazz. He has performed with icons including Art Blakey, Pharoah Sanders, and McCoy Tyner, while also leading acclaimed recordings that showcase his soulful lyricism and adventurous spirit. Known for his warm tone, expressive improvisation, and ability to bridge post-bop, fusion, and contemporary jazz, Henderson continues to inspire new generations of musicians.
For the Ravenscroft Concert Series, doors open at 6:00pm, followed by the performance beginning at 7:00pm. Choose from a fine selection of wine and craft beers before the show. Light refreshments will also be available for purchase at the bar. No food or drink will be permitted inside of Ravenscroft Hall.
