Blaise Lantana Talks With Arsen Nalbandian

Arsen Nalbandian

The Arsen Nabaldian Trio featuring Arsen-piano, Kenji Wagner-bass and Micah Miranda-drums, presents original arrangements of Great American Songbook standards from their latest album, “In Depth.”

Dedicated to the stylings of some of the great swinging pianists in history such as Oscar Peterson, Ahmad Jamal, and Bill Evans, these intricately crafted arrangements deliver an energetic and dynamic performance that one could closely associate to the spirit and essence of Big Band music.

Arsen Nalbandian is a 22 year old jazz pianist (he turns 23 on July 2nd, 2024), composer, and arranger based in the greater Phoenix metro area. Primarily a self-taught musician, Arsen has dedicated himself over the past 8 years towards honing his craft by listening and transcribing the recordings of jazz legends as his source of knowledge.

His style is rooted heavily in the traditions of the straight-ahead jazz umbrella, such as bebop and swing, with his primary influences on piano being Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans, and Red Garland. Arsen performs regularly throughout the valley and has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with modern-day jazz luminaries such as Sean Jones, Brad Leali, Doug Lawrence, Lewis Nash, and Corcoran Holt.
